Off Air Ending: How to Get It in Say Cheese!

The Off Air ending is a secret route: take no photos at all. Let the park wait for the news until the station cuts to color bars and the people start talking to each other.

What triggers the Off Air ending

The ending triggers when the station receives no photographs for the entire run. The park asks where the news is, the broadcast complains that everyone is waiting, and eventually the screen cuts to color bars.

Once the station is off air, the park figures start talking to each other instead of watching a screen. That conversation is the hidden ending.

What to photograph

Nothing. Do not press the shutter, do not click a figure, and do not photograph the television. The entire route depends on giving the station zero images.

Step-by-step route

  1. Start a run and keep the camera down. Do not take a single photo.
  2. Wait while the park asks for the news: The whole park is WAITING for the news!, then HELLO?? ANYTHING??
  3. Keep waiting until the television cuts to color bars and the OFF AIR caption appears.
  4. Watch the figures begin to talk to each other. The prompt They're just... TALKING. To each OTHER. confirms the secret ending.

Common mistakes

One photo ends the route. Even an accidental click on a figure or the television gives the station a story, so keep the camera stowed until the ending card appears.

Do not leave the run early. The color bars and the conversation take about a minute, and the ending follows after the prompt.

How to confirm the ending

The card reads Off Air Ending, ending 13 of 14, with the tagline "with nothing on tv, the park finally talked to each other". The 13 of 14 numbering marks it as one of the two secret endings added after the original twelve.

Headlines to watch for

These are the on-screen captions that tell you the route is on track. If the TV stops using them, the run has moved to another story.

  • The whole park is WAITING for the news!
  • HELLO?? ANYTHING??
  • OFF AIR
  • They're just... TALKING. To each OTHER.
