What triggers the Breaking News ending
The ending triggers after five photographs of nothing. The television reacts with STILL NOTHING... and Nothing. until it runs out of patience. Then the station stops covering the park and starts covering itself.
The final reports turn the camera back on the photographer. The ending card is the station's admission that it made the story up.
What to photograph
Empty grass or a blank patch of pavement with no figures, animals, or television in the frame. The shot needs to be genuinely empty. A distant crowd or a cricket in the corner can keep the station interested in the park instead.
Step-by-step route
- Find a clean patch of grass or pavement away from the crowd.
- Take one photo of the empty scene and watch the TV respond with STILL NOTHING...
- Repeat the empty shot four more times, for five total.
- After the fifth shot, let the station invent its own story. Do not photograph anything else until the ending card appears.
Common mistakes
A figure walking through the frame ruins the count. Wait for the patch to clear, or move to a quieter part of the park. Photographing the television is not an empty shot.
If someone or a major event enters the frame mid-route, restart the five-shot count. The station needs five clean nothings.
How to confirm the ending
The card reads Breaking News Ending, ending 4 of 12, with the tagline "when the news ran out, the station made its own". The invented broadcast about the photographer is the visual cue that the route is working.
Headlines to watch for
These are the on-screen captions that tell you the route is on track. If the TV stops using them, the run has moved to another story.
