What to Photograph in Say Cheese!

A practical guide to photo subjects in Say Cheese!: people, conflicts, kindness, hats, empty scenes, the TV itself, and the choice to take no photo at all.

People as subjects

A single figure is the most flexible subject. The station can turn a face into a human-interest story, a celebrity profile, or a warning depending on what the figure is doing. Smiling figures push the park toward the Say Cheese ending. Frightened figures push it toward Scared.

Conflict as a subject

A square yelling at a circle is the start of the longest chain in the game. Photograph the aggressor and keep following the escalation to reach Viral. Photograph the victim instead and the story becomes about fear.

Kindness as a subject

Helping, sharing, and comforting are valid news subjects. The Good ending depends on them, especially after the Square saves lovers beat. Kindness photos are slow, but they are the only route that leaves the park intact.

Hats are a subject the park cannot resist. Photograph the hat man at the right moment and the whole crowd wants a hat. Do it too early, or photograph the wrong accessory, and the station may start a different trend entirely.

Empty scenes and the TV

Empty grass is a subject too. Five empty photos in a row push the station into Breaking News. Photographing the television itself starts the recursive TV ending.

Taking no photo

The most important choice is the one the game does not advertise: you can refuse to shoot. The Off Air secret ending only exists for players who keep the camera down and let the station run out of material.
